4 Day Private Gorilla Safari Itinerary
Day 1
Your DUSL safari guide will meet you at Entebbe International Airport and you depart on your private charter to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the mountain gorilla. Bwindi is best known for its mountain gorillas, but the mountain forest also attracts spectacular birds. There are 23 of the 24 Albertine Rift endemic-birds including the African green broadbill, bar tailed trogon and other beautiful forest species. We will stay at Gorilla Forest Camp, which is the most attractive and comfortable in the park. It has recently been renovated and has good bathrooms with flush toilets and en suite facilities. The private verandahs are a great place to sit and listen to the sounds of the mountain rainforest. This afternoon take a guided village walk – see how the Ugandans live, visit a local bar and meet the witchdoctor! Overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp (Full Board)
Day 2
You will rise relatively early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking. Report to the ranger station at 08.00 am where the guides will take you through the bush, slashing at the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track gorillas. This trek can take from half an hour to five hours so a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. You sit in the forest among the gorillas listening to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silverback. It is amazing to think that there are only 650 or so of these creatures left in the world! Overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp (Full Board)
Day 3
Another thrilling chance to track wild mountain gorillas! The afternoon can be spent at leisure or you may want to take a guide walk on the Munyaga River trail which is an ideal short walk; this trail leads to three delightful crystal clear waterfalls, and there is a profusion of tree ferns, epithytic ferns, orchids and Bwindi’s colourful array of butterflies. Here you may also see birds and primates from the forest edge .Overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp (Full Board)
Day4
After an early breakfast both you and your DUSL safari guide will be transferred to Kayonza Airstrip for a private charter to Entebbe International Airport. On arrival a DUSL representative will show you to International Departures for your outbound flight.
